For my first official review, and to kick off the Classics Review Series, I decided to discuss one of my all time favorite classics, Great Expectations by Charles Dickens.
“I loved her against reason, against promise, against peace, against
hope, against happiness, against all discouragement that could be.”
-Charles Dickens,
Great Expectations
Review:
This book has been one of my favorites ever since I read it in high school.
Originally I had assumed it would be an old book with a hard to follow story line, but it is considered a classic for a reason and I quickly became obsessed with the characters, setting, and story line.
Movie Adaptions:
This classic story has been adapted to film many times in the past.
My personal favorite movie adaption is the 2012 film directed by Mike Newell.
This one is particularly my favorite because I think the cast was outstanding and the extra scenes written for this specific adaptation complimented the original story really well. I think Dickens himself would have even been a fan!
Always a Classic:
This classic story will never go out of style and for anyone who hasn't read it I strongly recommend purchasing the book and diving deep into London alongside an orphan boy with Great Expectations.
